Our Consultant Spotlight of the month is Amber. Here she shares with us some of her business insights and words of advice!
1. When did you begin your Pure Romance career?
I started Pure Romance August 30th 2011
2. What attracted you to Pure Romance? What was your “why”?
My why when I first started was why not? I loved how Tiffany had done my friends bachelorette party. She loved it more than other consultants parties I had ever been to and I had never once filled out a ccc (never wanted to give my info out) or been asked if I was interested in a party or becoming a consultant. So I asked her more about it in the ordering room. I figured what was there to lose and the worst is I get the products I love for a discount if it doesn’t work out!
3. Has your “why” changed since you’ve been in business?
Heck yea it has! I love seeing how much Pure Romance can change your life and that I make a lot more money in a weekend of parties then I do working my 40 hour a week pharmacy j.o.b. (just over broke)! My new why is FAMILY! Both my husband and I are ready to start our family and get a house of our own and we see that possibility with Pure Romance!
4. Have there been any surprises in your business or has it been exactly what you imagined it would be?
I never imagined that I would be with Pure Romance this long. I thought it would just be a hobby and I would get bored with it. But like my mom told me when I was asking her what she thought before I signed up: “you don’t know until you try it and you might regret never trying it so why not!” And I am so happy I did not pass up the opportunity to help so many people, myself included!
5. What is your favorite thing about being a consultant?
I love being able to teach women new things that they did not know. I was going to school to be a teacher so I love the education part of Pure Romance and I make sure everyone walks away from my parties learning something new, either about a product or about themselves.
6. Share with us a short term goal and a long term goal.
My short term goal is to become a director and my long term goal is to be able to leave my day j.o.b. and do Pure Romance fulltime!!!!
7. Do you have a favorite item to demo? What and Why?
WHIPPED!!! I love doing the hand demo without whipped and then with it. It is how I start my lubricant demo at every party! There is always one person in the room who goes “ahh” or “ohh”, like the light bulb turned on and they realize the importance of lubrication (again, that teaching thing).
8. Is there anything special that you do for your hostesses to build rapport or get them to book with you?
SPOIL THEM! You are not there to make money on them, so spoil them like crazy! I always give them a choice of their free gift, if we haven’t already had one picked from a booking game. That way I feel they get something extra off their wish list that maybe they didn’t have enough money for or didn’t want a hot heart or whatever I would have picked that they may not use. And I always do a referral program when their friends have parties. Right now, I won a hotel stay from the Relay for Life auction, so I am donating that to my hostesses. When they have a qualifying party and certain other “tasks”, they will get entries into the drawing for it! This has helped with a lot of girls because the minimum isn’t too high and most girls would love a night away from home at no cost!
9. What advice would you give to a brand new consultant?
Make your follow up calls and your hostess calls! I was horrible at following up, but as soon as I do, I make a stronger connection with my customers. You also want to be yourself and get to know every customer and get to know them as your friend because happy customers are what make your business grow!
10. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Don’t give up! There are going to be good times and bad times. When you are in a bad time or don’t think “you can do this anymore,” just know that the sun is right around the corner and Pure Romance could be exactly what you are looking for! And most importantly, HAVE FUN!
