Our Consultant Spotlight of the month is Darlene. Here she shares with us some of her business insights and words of advice!
1. When did you begin your Pure Romance career?
I signed up at the end of February but didn’t launch until the end of March.
2. What attracted you to Pure Romance? What was your “why”?
In January I had seriously been looking at getting a part-time job to earn extra income to pay off debt. I had given up because nothing was flexible enough to work around my 2 active daughter’s extra-curricular activities OR paid enough to make it worth my time to even juggle adding a 2nd job. I had a Pure Romance party and it was like a light bulb went off during the demo and I thought “could this be the answer?” The flexibility and income potential was what sealed the deal for me.
3. Has your “why” changed since you’ve been in business?
I would say that my “why” has definitely expanded. When I signed up, I didn’t expect to have so much fun doing this, to develop such great friendships with my sister consultants and my customers, or how rewarding it feels to truly help a woman that had no other access to our products and information.
4. Have there been any surprises in your business or has it been exactly what you imagined it would be?
I never expected to advance so quickly. I love sharing the opportunity with other women and knew that I would like to build a team eventually but I didn’t see it happening as quickly as it has.
5. What is your favorite thing about being a consultant?
I really enjoy meeting so many women. In your daily life, you fall into a routine and don’t get many opportunities to meet new people. Being a consultant has changed that. I meet new women every week now.
6. Share with us a short term goal and a long term goal.
Short-term: November and December are financially draining but I plan to pay for all of it with cash this year. That is very exciting for me. Long-term: To be 100% debt-free, thanks to Pure Romance. It will take some time but I can see an end.
7. Do you have a favorite item to demo? What and Why?
That’s hard because I have a few. Basic Instinct is definitely one of them. I love to see customer’s reactions when they realize how the scent really is unique to each of them.
8. Is there anything special that you do for your hostesses to build rapport or get them to book with you?
I ask them if it’s ok if I send them a Facebook friend request, with setting up an event for them being my reason. The event is not my only reason though. I like them to get to know me, a little, through my pictures and activity. I also like to get to know them before the party, especially corporate leads.
9. What advice would you give to a brand new consultant?
Use those Customer Connection Cards in the ordering room and then follow-up, follow-up, follow-up. Don’t let potential hostesses and recruits slip away because you didn’t follow up. When they say “I’m not ready right now” ask them if you can contact them on a certain date and then do it!
10. Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Never stop learning. Whether it’s corporate trainings, watching YouTube videos, attending team meetings, scanning the Facebook groups, etc. just try to set aside some time each week to learn and grow your business. It will pay off.
